Confused Russians fight with Lady Boys at South Pattaya Hotel

Two Russian men were assaulted after they realized they had taken two men back to their rooms for some late night fun, instead of two women. Mr. Nikita Varenenkov aged 22 and Mr. Mickail Samokni aged 23 reported the incident at Pattaya Police Station and was accompanied by two transsexuals who are alleged to have attacked the two Russian Tourists who demanded they repay 1,000 Baht each which had been paid to them for sexual services, with the assumption they were female in gender.

As soon as they realized this was not the case, a verbal altercation soon turned physical as the two transsexuals, Mr. Apichart aged 22 a Laos national and Khun Wittaya aged 23, refused to refund the men. At the Police Station evidence of injuries sustained by both parties were examined by Police who ordered everyone to the Hospital to deal with the injuries sustained. Investigations into the case are ongoing at this time with no charges brought against either party for now.

Top Five Regrets of the Dying

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die.

Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality.

I learned never to underestimate someone's capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance.

Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them. When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people have had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn't work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children's youth and their partner's companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called 'comfort' of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Tattoo poo for cheating woman - Artist inks excrement on wayward lover's back

A FURIOUS woman is suing her ex-boyfriend after he tattooed a steaming poo on her back.

Rossie Brovent wants £60,000 in damages from Ryan Fitzjerald.

Rossie, from Dayton, Ohio, US, wanted a scene from the Narnia trilogy inked on her back.

Instead she was left with a pile of excrement with flies buzzing around it.

Tattoo artist Ryan turned rogue after discovering that Rossie had cheated on him with his best friend.

Rossie originally tried to have her ex-lover charged with assault but she had signed a consent form agreeing the tattoo design was "at the artist's discretion".

She said: "He tricked me by drinking a bottle of cheap wine with me and doing tequila shots before I signed it and got the tattoo.

"Actually I was passed out for most of the time, and woke up to this horrible image on my back."

Briton Detained - Thai Girlfriend Jumps Off 7th Floor Of Pattaya Hotel

A 22-year-old Pattaya woman jumped off from the 7th floor of a luxury boutique hotel after a quarrel with UK boy friend who said "I didn't do it". The police is still suspicious. The boy friend is being investigated and the seriously injured girlfriend will be interviewed as soon as she regains consciousness.

Pattaya, November 28, 2011 [PDN] Pol. Lt. Col. Veeravuth Meelai, Pattaya police station, Chonburi was notified about a “jumper”, a young woman who leaped off a balcony at Vogue Hotel Pattaya, located in Soi Leng Kee, Third Pattaya road, Central Pattaya, Moo 9, Banglamung, Chonburi province.
 
At the scene of the accident the police found the injured 22-year-old Thai woman named Ms. Ratchanu Taweerat laying unconscious on the grass with blood from her mouth and nose.
 
Mr. David John age 25, her British boy friend in a state of shock was sitting beside her including hotel staff plus curious local and international onlookers.

The rescue team provided first aid accordingly and the injured woman was sent to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.
 
Upon investigation Mr. David, the boy friend of the injured said that he and his girl friend stayed in room 2710 on the 7th floor.

Before the jump they went to a pub in Walking Street, South Pattaya. Returned to the hotel and started to quarrel, but no fighting, he said. Thereafter his girl friend went out on the balcony and jumped off. He rushed down and asked the hotel staff for help.
 
The witnesses on the opposite side of the hotel saw the moment Ms. Ratchanu jumped off, hit a branch of a coconut tree before hitting ground. This probably saved her life.
 
Mr. David said that he didn’t beat up his girl friend and that she jumped off by her self. They inspected his body but no traces of fighting we’re found. The hotel room was also inspected but nothing unusual was discovered.
 
Mr. David has been detained and is to be further investigated by the police. More witnesses will also be interviewed when Ms. Ratchanu regains consciousness the police will find out why she jumped off the balcony.

Thai Airways Cancels More Than 500 Flights In Flood Aftermath

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways International. Ltd. (PLC), THAI, have cancelled more than 500 flights on various international and domestic routes due to in and outbound tourists are changing their holiday plans in aftermath of the flooding in Thailand, according to the newspaper Krungthep Turakij.
 
The airline will also use smaller aircrafts on some routes because of lesser demand, and will consider the situation from day to day. Thai Airways hopes that the passenger traffic will pick up again in December which normally are the high season.

The Thai Airways International Public Company reduced the number of airplane flights after the passengers cancelled their travels during flooding.
 
Thai Airways International Public Company cut more than 500 domestic and international flights due to a dramatic drop in passengers who remain uncertain about the flood crisis.
 
In addition to flight reduction, Thai Airways will downsize its airplane in correlation with the numbers of passengers in each flight.

The company will assess the situation on a daily basis.

The company will make sure that any changes made has minimal affect on passengers and hopes the situation would return to normal in December.
 
The flood crisis will have an extensive impact on the company's income this year, pointing out that the company normally earns a large amount of profit during the high season period.
 
Thai Airways has already lost around 4.8 billion baht in the first nine months due to money exchange rate fluctuations and an increase of fuel prices.

Airport of Thailand Public Company or AOT Manging Director, Anirut Thanomkulabutra said that six international airports nationwide experienced a 9 percent drop in passenger numbers when compared to last October.
 
As for the Suvarnabhumi Airport, the number of passengers went down from 130,000 to 100,000, while the numbers of flight reduced by 100 from 900 to 800.

Phuket Schools Relax Rules For Hiring English Teachers

PHUKET: -- The Phuket Primary Education Area Office has relaxed the requirements for foreigners to be hired as English-language teachers at government schools in Phuket.
 
The move is aimed at combating a critical staff shortage, explained Office Director Jian Thongnoon.
 
“We need about 100 English teachers, but right now we have only about 50 teachers and some of these are not very good in English. This is a big emergency that we need to solve,” he said.
 
Among the reasons for the staff shortage were that many English teachers had moved from primary to middle schools, and teachers were applying for early retirement, the director said.
 
“Ideally, we have to hire teachers specifically trained to teach in English. Just hiring native English speakers is not really worth it because these people do not have teaching skills. However, in the meantime we will have to hire teachers who just have English skills until we can find qualified teachers who have both English and English-teaching skills” Mr Jian explained.
 
Phuket Provincial Administration Organization (OrBorJor) President Paiboon Upatising expressed his concern that an ongoing shortage would have a serious impact on Phuket’s ability to remain competitive after the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) charter comes into full effect.
 
“This is a top priority. The AEC comes into effect in 2015, so the sooner we resolve this issue the better. Neighboring countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia already have good English skills, so we will be at even more of a disadvantage if we do not have enough English teachers to educate our children.
 
“Many English teachers have retired from OrBorJor schools this year. We have been announcing that we need English teachers, but there have been very few applications,” said Mr Paiboon.
 
Mr Paiboon explained that the problem is not restricted to OrBorJor schools and that other relevant officials are facing the same problem. Officials from the OrBorJor, Phuket City Municipality and the Primary Educational Service Area office will continue to meet to discuss strategies to overcome the problem.
 
“The OrBorJor will start by teaching English to existing teachers so they can teach the children and we will hire native English speakers to help,” Mr Paiboon said.
 
The long-term strategy involves coordinating with educational institutions in Phuket in order to fill the skills gap, said Mr Paiboon.
 
“Previously, educational institutions in Phuket have been catering to the needs of the tourism and hotel industries, but having English teachers is very important.
 
“A shortage of English teachers will affect our children’s English skills, which will result in Thailand not being able to compete [economically] against other countries,” he said.

Rats - Feeding On Trash Increase Disease Threat In Flooded Bangkok

Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Bangkok officials began paying residents to clear trash after doctors reported more cases of a potentially lethal rat-linked disease in flood-stricken areas.
 
The municipal government said it will pay 300 baht ($9.70) a day starting yesterday for 60 days to remove garbage in a city that normally produces 8,000 tons of waste daily. Concern that uncollected food scraps may be harboring vermin increased after Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri said Nov. 9 seven people were being treated for leptospirosis, a bacterial infection spread in water contaminated with rat urine.
 
“We don’t want the rats to walk around finding food,” said Porntep Siriwanarangsun, director general of Thailand’s Department of Disease Control. “We have to take care of the garbage immediately.”
 
The specter of infectious epidemics is increasing as the battle to overcome the nation’s worst flood since 1942 stretches into the 15th week. Medical workers treated 4,684 people for influenza, 828 for diarrhea and 246 for conjunctivitis in 127 state shelters the past month in Ayutthaya, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani provinces, the health ministry said this week.
 
“We are sending more mobile teams to cope with and combat infectious diseases,” Porntep said in a Nov. 8 interview.
 
Colds and skin diseases of the feet caused by contact with dirty water are the main complaints treated at evacuation shelters so far, he said, adding that leptospirosis is a key concern because the bacterium may persist in water for a month.
 
Anti-Garbage Campaign
 
“We are now in a campaign to get rid of garbage because this will attract rats, and the rat urine will leave the disease on small puddles of water on the ground,” Porntep said.
 
Humans become infected through direct contact with the urine of rats and other infected animals or with a urine- contaminated environment, according to the World Health Organization. The bacteria enter the body through cuts or abrasions on the skin, or through the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and eyes.
 
In the early stages of the disease, symptoms include high fever, severe headache, muscle pain, chills, redness of the eyes, abdominal pain, jaundice, hemorrhages in the skin and mucous membranes, vomiting, diarrhea, and rash, the Geneva-based agency said.
 
Aid workers are delivering pre-prepared meals to displaced families to try to mitigate the risk, said Varabhorn Bhumiswasdi, director of the Priest Hospital in central Bangkok, who is leading a mobile medical team in Rangsit, a flooded area 20 kilometers (13 miles) north of the city center.
 
At a temporary shelter in Rangsit, villagers set up an outdoor kitchen, storing rice, raw fish and other food items in plastic bags. Trash was piled in a corner of the compound, which was shared with dogs and ducks.
 
No Cooking
 
“We tell people not to cook their own food at the shelters because we’re very worried about the garbage,” Varabhorn said. “We also warn them not to buy food from vendors because it may be unhygienic. That’s why we have to supply fresh cooked food three times a day, to prevent food poisoning and diarrhea.”
 
Varabhorn’s six-person team set up a makeshift clinic on a concrete bridge above the now-submerged village of Lak Hok. Patients are examined on an abandoned bed and dispensed medicines from the back of a truck.
 
“We’re mostly getting patients suffering from chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease,” she said. “Hospitals are flooded so they need continuing care from us.”
 
Floods increase the risk of water-borne diseases, including typhoid fever, cholera and hepatitis A, according to the WHO. Stagnant water may also encourage mosquitoes that can spread malaria and dengue fever, the United Nations agency says.
 
Bed Nets
 
The UN Children’s Fund is providing 20,000 insecticide- treated mosquito nets to help protect families evacuated to temporary shelters and living in other flood-ravaged areas in Thailand from dengue fever, it said on Oct. 27.
 
More than 530 people have died because of the floods, which inundated parts of 64 of Thailand’s 77 provinces and affected more than 11 million people, the government said yesterday. Twenty-four provinces are still affected.
 
“This is an urban emergency in a mega-city of about 10 million people,” said William Aldis, an assistant professor of global health at Bangkok’s Thammasat University and a former WHO representative to Thailand. Aldis said cholera, a life- threatening diarrheal disease spread by Vibrio cholerae bacteria, posed a particular public health threat.
 
“It’ll just take one person with cholera excreting millions of Vibrio cholerae into the floodwater and potentially into the drinking water, and then you would end up with a serious outbreak,” Aldis said over the telephone from his home in Nonthaburi, on the outskirts of Bangkok.

 

Cholera Threat
 
“We’ve seen cholera in cities before, but cholera in the midst of massive flooding within a city -- and where the drinking water is compromised -- the conditions are ripe for a major urban cholera outbreak,” he said. “I don’t know if anybody is prepared for that.”
 
Water supplies may have already been compromised after flood barriers were torn down by residents angry at being caught behind them, allowing floodwater to flow into canals used to produce tap water.
 
“So far it’s not very bad because infectious diseases are under control,” said Porntep at the Disease Control Department. “We have not seen salmonella or Vibrio cholerae in any of the flooded areas, and there hasn’t been any serious bacterial infection in diarrhea cases, just from food poisoning.”
 
Residents without access to safe, potable water are advised to boil publicly supplied tap water to kill any pathogens, he said.
 
“The tap water may be safe now, but we don’t know if the tap water will stay safe,” Porntep said.

MORE PANICK! Thai floods reduce beer supplies to a drip '

BANGKOK: -- – After a month of devastating floods, Thailand faces the prospect of a dry spell it could do without.
 
From Bangkok to Phuket, bars and supermarkets are starting to report shortages of beer - such as local favourite Singha - as distributors struggle to get their product out.
 
Singha, which has many of its production facilities based in flood-hit central provinces such as Phathum Thani, was recently forced to close one brewery that was effectively surrounded by water. A company spokesperson told CNN production has been severely disrupted.
 
The country's economy is already at crisis point, with several of its main industrial parks to the north of the capital inundated by floodwater seeping down from the north. Major manufacturers such as Honda have scrapped yearly profit forecasts after production was halted in several plants.
 
Thousands refuse to flee Bangkok flood
 
With Thailand now entering its peak tourist season, a blow to the country's beer belly could hit consumers in the pocket, as prices are forced up.
 
Phuket, one of the country's most popular holiday destinations, has a "beer crisis," according to the English language Phuket Gazette.
 
“At the beginning of the flood crisis, we didn’t expect it to affect us much,” said Weerawit Kurasombat, President of the Patong Entertainment Business Association, whose members generate more than 100 million baht ($3.25 million) annually for the local economy.
 
But now he says bars are short of stock - particularly beer, the biggest money-spinner - and are being forced to pay inflated prices to re-supply.
 
“This is the beginning of the high season. If the supply situation does not improve within about 30 days, I believe the entertainment business will start showing real signs of a crisis,” he said.
 
Even in Bangkok, the ubiquitous 7-Eleven stores appeared to be running short of many brands.
 
The capital is now the focus of the flood crisis, as it battles to protect the central business district from the filthy floodwater edging deeper into this low-lying city of 12 million people.
 
However, preparation appears minimal. Cars are illegally parked on along the side of raised sections of the main highway to avoid flooding, and there is occasional deployment of sandbags around the entrances of shops and office buildings.
 
It's a different story to the north and east, where a number of main roads are under water and the military has become the only means of transporting people and vital supplies of food and water around flood-hit districts.
 
A beer shortage is the least of people's worries in these parts.

Briton Found Guilty Of Murdering Thai Wife For Smashing His Star Wars Toys

A husband has been found guilty of murder for strangling his Thai wife after she smashed up his collection of Star Wars toys.

Rickie La Touche, 30, claimed that Pornpilai Srisroy, 28, damaged the Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker memorabilia that he had built up since he was child.
 
During a subsequent row, he suffocated his wife then ran off sobbing to his mother who lived in a nearby street.
 
A relative discovered Ms Pornpilai lying dead on the couple’s double bed covered by a duvet with a pillow over her face.
 
La Touche later told police that his wife had smashed up his Star Wars collection as part of a campaign to make his life “hell”.

 
He claimed he was a henpecked husband who “flipped” after she threatened to leave him to go back to her native Thailand.
 
La Touche — also known as Rickie Nehls — was found guilty of murder after a trial at Preston Crown Court and jailed for life, with a minimum of 12 years.
 
The court heard that he met his wife in a bar while on holiday in Bangkok in 2001. He became “besotted” and they married on his fourth visit to Thailand in 2003 but she could not get a UK visa until two years later.
 
Once she moved to Britain, the couple had a child and lived together at various addresses before moving to a terraced house in Leigh, Greater Manchester, where she drew Star Wars sketches and he called her “Boom”.
 
He killed her in April during a violent row that began as soon as they woke up at 6.30am. Shortly afterwards he knocked on the door of his mother’s house in an “agitated” state.
 
When his mother asked him what was wrong, he replied that he had “killed her”. He stayed with his mother while another relation went to the house and discovered Ms Pornpilai’s body.
 
When police arrived La Touche told them: “My wife is from Thailand and she keeps threatening to leave. We argued and she said she was going to make my life hell. She’s put me through it before. I couldn’t let that happen again.
 
“I then just remember getting up from on top of her. I think I’ve choked her.”

La Touche denied murder but admitted manslaughter. He claimed his wife had once hit him with a pool cue and threatened to kill him when he was asleep and then “cut him up and eat him”.
 
He claimed that he contacted a domestic abuse hotline in the summer of last year. On the morning of her death he said she had angrily demanded to know what he had done about getting a passport for their young child.
 
“I felt faint and was sweating,” he said. “That must have been the point I just flipped. I don’t know how long I had hold of her.’’
 
A post mortem examination concluded that the cause of death was asphyxiation.

After the case, Andy Tattersall of Greater Manchester Police said: “We may never know exactly what happened that morning, but I hope that La Touche’s sentence is of some small comfort to Ms Pornpilai’s family and friends.
 
“La Touche will have to live the rest of his life with the awful knowledge that he is responsible for killing his wife.”

Danger From The Flood Emerges As Deadly Green Mambas Escape

Another terror from the floods emerged yesterday - the public was warned that 15 green mamba snakes had escaped from a flooded building in Nonthaburi's Pak Kret district on Tuesday night.
 
Officials say the highly venomous snakes include two adults - 2 metres long - and 13 one-metre-long young ones.
 
Anyone spotting the snakes must alert the Zoo and Wildlife Veterinary Society of Thailand via hotline 1362 or the Jor Sor 100 radio station at (02) 711 9160.
 
Chisanu Tiyacharoensri, vice president of the Wild Animal Rescue Foundation of Thailand, said green mambas were yellowish-green and larger than green snakes. He urged people to stay away from the snakes and be careful not to be bitten because there was no serum available in Thailand at present to counteract their venom.
 
Chisanu said the victim of a mamba bite would feel drowsy and could die in 20 minutes. If he or she survived, the victim would be on respiratory aid while waiting for antivenin to come from South America in two or three days.
 
For first aid in case of snakebite to a limb, Chisanu said the wound should be cleaned gently with soap and water, and a piece of cloth should be wrapped tightly at least 7 centimetres above the bite. A second piece should be wrapped 7cm above the first. The victim should lie down before being quickly transported to hospital.
 
He warned not to squeeze or cut the wound.

Englishwoman tells of Thai horror ordeal... because page was missing from her passport - 'Locked up in mixed cells and forced to bribe guards for food'

A young Englishwoman was thrown into a squalid Thai jail cell and threatened with deportation, just because a page was missing from her passport.

Francesca Salt, from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, was held for 30 hours in an immigration detention centre, where she was forced to bribe guards for food.

'It was horrific,' said Miss Salt. 'I had to finance my stay in a "cell" I shared with immigrants of all countries of both sexes, and the corruption was shocking.

Ordeal:

'I had to pay the guards for something to eat as the food offered was inedible.'

Miss Salt, 22, had been working in Thailand as an English teacher when, as she returned from a fortnight trip to Indonesia, she was stopped by immigration.

When officers found a page of her passport missing, they frog-marched her to an overcrowded, mixed cell in the airport's detention centre.

'I was held in the retention centre with other would-be immigrants, where I was searched and left for 30 hours,' Miss Salt told the Daily Mail.

Despite the best efforts of her family to get her out, Ms Salt was told that she would be deported back to Indonesia and jailed there for at least two weeks.

There her family would be expected to pay for a translator and local lawyer.

It was only after her mother contacted the company she had been working for, and help from officials from Emirates, the Dubai-owned airline, that Miss Salt was released from detention.

But it was not the end of her indignity. Gloating Thai officials marched her straight through the airport to catch a flight back to the UK.

Without that help, I would no doubt have been flown to Indonesia where I would now be locked up,' said Miss Salt.

BREAKING NEWS!! All 50 Districts In Bangkok To Brace For Flood Tonight

BANGKOK, Oct 26 - Bangkok governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra on Wednesday warned city dwellers in all 50 districts to brace for flooding as a significant portion of the backed up floodwater from the North is arriving the capital tonight.
 
The governor made the announcement as he inspected the water level in Chao Phraya River, which he said is likely to be at 2.40 metres above mean sea level.
 
Mr Sukhumbhand alerted the public that floodwater from the North is also arriving Bangkok Wednesday night, bringing the situation to a critical point.

The governor said he has instructed all 50 districts to be prepared for flooding and expressed concern for 13 specially at-risk areas along the Chao Phraya River, as well as districts in northern and eastern Bangkok, including Lad Krabang, Nong Chok, Min Buri, Khlong Sam Wa, Khan Na Yao, Bang Khen, Sai Mai, Don Mueang, Chatuchak, and Bang Sue.
 
City Hall will assess the situation again this evening before announcing whether it will declare further warnings for other areas, according to the governor.
 
Meanwhile, flooding at Don Mueang Airport housing the Relief Operations Centre (FROC) on Wednesday reportedly expanded, covering almost 90 per cent of the runways, according to a Thai News Agency (TNA) report.
 
The FROC distribution centre of essential items located at the airport cargo facility, has not yet been hit, and about ten large and medium-size commercial aircraft were seen parked at the runway.
 
TNA said concerned officials sped up moving donated materials piled on the first floor of the airport compound to Supachalasai National Stadium in inner Bangkok adjacent to Mah Boon Krong and reinforced flood prevention dykes with sandbags.
 
The large numbers of volunteers who had earlier helped pack relief packages at Don Meuang were markedly reduced as the airport was enveloped by floodwater. (MCOT online news)

Flights Stop At Bangkok's Don Muang Airport As Floods Reach Runways

Nok Air cancels its service from today until 1 Nov

BANGKOK, 25 October 2011 (NNT) - Nok Air budget airline has cancelled all flight schedules from 12.00hrs today until 1 November due to floods.

Mr Pathee Sarasin, Nok Air's chief executive officer, stated that Nok Air needs to stop its service temporarily from 12.00hrs today until 1 November as flood water has reached the top of Don Mueang runway. Airplanes departing from airports in other provinces are instructed to land at Suvarnabhumi Airport before being parked at U-Tapao International Airport, Chon Buri. Nok Air offers its service of approximately 53 flights per day.

Orient Thai Airlines relocates flights to Suvarnabhumi Airport

Orient Thai Airways on Tuesday announced it would relocate its flights from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi International Airports starting today.

Earlier Nok Air has suspended using Don Mueang Airport, starting today until November 1. Its flights would be relocated to Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Muslim man marries a ladyboy, then asks for a refund '

SATUN: A Muslim man's marriage to a 16-year-old ladyboy has collapsed after drawing a storm of criticism from the local community, who claimed the wedding was against the principles of Islam.

Leaflets were even circulated in the family's village in Paera subdstrict in Satun claiming the “sacrilegious” binding of lovers had caused recent flooding in the province.

Ismael Langji, 18, is now claiming he was tricked into marrying 16-year-old Anurak Janyu or “Nong Dada” and thought “he” was a “she”.

Mr Ismael's family even took the step of traveling to the office of Satun Provincial Islamic Council to hold a press conference to denounce the marriage.

The family claimed they only allowed Mr Ismael to marry Nong Dada because they didn't know she was transgender.

If they had known Nong Dada had been born a man, there was no way they would have allowed their son to wed her because it was forbidden in Islam for a man to marry a man, they said.

They had only met Nong Dada a few times and she looked exactly like a woman in every respect, so there was no reason to suspect she wasn't quite as she seemed.

Explaining Mr Ismael's attraction to Nong Dada, the family said Mr Ismael was "brain damaged" and “easily influenced by others”.

They claimed they had already held a wedding party, but had yet to hold the more important Islamic marriage ceremony. As such, had not actually violated the principles of the religion. They added that they did not support gay marriage, as many in the area had incorrectly assumed to be the case.

Things got worse when Nong Dada's father and mother arrived at the Langji family press conference. A loud quarrel broke out, with the Janyu family denying there had been any deception involved.

Mr Ismael had already been sleeping with Nong Dada at their home for at least a month and knew very well that she was a ladyboy. They had welcomed him warmly into their family and treated him as their son-in-law, they said.

However if they had known the union of the two men was against Islamic law, they wouldn't have allowed the pair to have anything to do with each other, they said.

Mr Ismael, for his part, said he had no idea Nong Dada had been born a man since they had only known each other a little over a month.

As for the bride price, the Langji family had given the Janyus 30,000 baht and a one-bahtweight gold necklace for Nong Dada's hand in marriage.

The Langji family said they would ask for it back once tensions eased and appropriate negotiations had taken place.
